| Language andLiterature | Over the past two weeks we were familiarized with internal monologue. We chose characters from our text ‘The Chameleon’ and discussed them in detail. We also delved into the characters with perceptive exploration, citing evidence from the text. | Individuals & Societies | In the past few weeks we covered two main topics. The first topic was layers of the earth in which we gained a deeperunderstanding about the nature of Crust, Asthenosphere, Lower Mantle, Outer core and the Inner core through a YouTube video. Our next topic was ‘Tectonic Plates’ in which we named all the plates on a map displayed on the smartboard. Next we identified them as oceanic and continental plates. We also learnt about the boundaries of the plates such as convergent, divergent and transform boundaries through interesting group activities. By: Sarim Khan MYP 2D |
| Science | Chemistry:In the last two weeks we have been working to get a basic understanding of our concepts required in the forthcoming unit. After being introduced to the unit and its details, we learnt the essential facts under the broad heading of pure and impure substances. Welearnt how to differentiate between them. Towards the end of the week we also gained an understanding of physical and chemical changes through some demonstrations. By:Aiyana Nagrare MYP 2A Biology: We watched a video explaining how food passes through our digestive tract. While watching the video we listed digestive organs. We referred to the textbook, prepared notes and summarized our understanding. We also referred to the handout on digestive organs and their functions. Towards the end of this week we also prepared a poster on the sameas a part of our formative assessment. By:Deo Shetty- MYP2C Physics: Last weekwe learnt the differences between scalar and vector quantity and it further guided us to find the difference between distance and displacement. We were given various scenarios in which calculated the distance and displacement of an object. We also learnt Pythagoras theorem to calculate the displacement of an object . By: Troy- MYP 2B |
| Product Design | After our meeting with theclients ; Grade 4 Teachers, we discussed how different products could help children make productive use of their time in the classroom.After sharing different ideas and critically evaluating them, we realised puzzles are a very good solution to our design problem.Using coggle.it we made mind maps and organised the information. | Digital Design | Over the pasttwo weeks we have been working on various things such as; learning html, using mind map software, Coggle, and how to design a website. Currently we have been instructed how to make a mind map and a website related to any topic of our choice . Overall,It has been an interesting and informative week .By: Aarav Jindal MYP 2A |
| Language Acquisition | French: We have started the first unit of this academic year ‘In and around town’. We designed key concept, related concept, global context and statement of inquiry for the unit .We alsohad a discussion on the inquiry questions. With regard to the content and concepts to be covered in this unitwe watched interactive videos for recapitulating vocabulary of places in the city. We developed lexical content by working on grammatical structures that adhere to the unit such as contracted articles with the verb ‘aller- to go’ and preposition à. We did many exercises related to this topic and strengthened our grasp on complex grammatical structures. Hindi: Phase : Emergent: In this week we started our new unit.We discussedour city, effects of pollution and what we can do to keep the environment clean. Furthermore, we made sentences and discussed them in class. By: Tavanya Seth MYP 2B Capable: We had discussion on physical and mental health and how it affects our daily routine, work performances and our future. We also had a poemreading and analysis session in our class for Hindi Diwas. Zoya Gupta (MYP2 C Spanish: Phase 1: This week we watched an educational video about a city called Ponferrada in Spain. This helped us to explore more vocabulary related to the historical monuments and various places in the city. We were introduced to prepositions of directions and place and verbs that are used fordirections We were given a task to design the map of an imaginary city using directions .This task helped us to enhance our thinking and social skills. By: Rabani MYP 2C Spanish: Phase II: Our first two weeks focussed on recapitulation of concepts done in ourprevious grade. We started our first unit ‘La Ciudad y sus alredadores’ (In and around town) with a discussion on ‘what we know, what we want to know and what questions we have’ in a combined class with phase 1. Next, we noted down the unit specifications. We also performed an activity on ‘Mi Ciudad Ideal’. Furthermore , we were introduced to the topic ‘Los problemas de la ciudad’ (The problems in my city). | Visual Art | In the last two weeks we discussed’Art movements’ and understood how different art styles emerged in the history of art and how they are related to the social, political and cultural situation of that time. We discussed at length ‘Pointillism and Pop Art’ as our unit focuses on these two movements. We practised creating small drawings using pointillism technique. Since our outcome would be landscape we started with a basic understanding of composition and elements of Art. | Physical and Health Education (PHE) | We continued with our first unit in martial arts. We learnt different types of punches used in karate and practised them. We also practised stretching exercises to increase the flexibility component. By: Misheka Bhagat 2C |
| Drama | Over the past two weeks we have been working on our FA project. Our task was to create a sustainable modelstageof stories such as ‘Lion and the Hare’, ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ etc. This project helped us to communicate with each otheras we brainstormed our ideas together. | Music | This week we learnt to express ourselves artistically with our instrument. We memorized our scales and revised the formulas used to derive major and minor scales and also marked the pitches of those scales on the staff. We also did some exercises to identify the tonality -major and minor on the staff by using the website www.musictheory.net |
